Site Ideas & Suggestions

Each topic needs to be clicked on, AND you must scroll to the very end before a topic will be marked “read.” That is a bit confusing, but ideally this tip will get you up to speed and up to date. :smiley_cat:

Thank you! I am getting better at this , someone told me to click on the house at the top and that was a HUGE help…and you helped me with the each topic needs to be clicked and scroll down!

I second CalicoKitty. I am also glad UglyBetty is posting more now. Yay!

I don’t know if this is possible, but I have a couple of people I am ignoring due to language or other comments I am not interested in seeing, and that works great. However, if one of those people reply, and it is hidden, it is showing as a new or unread comment, so I go to the thread and all I see are “hidden” comments. Is there any way those comments can not be included in my list of new threads or a way to acknowledge them so they don’t show up as new? Probably not, but it is a suggestion. Thanks!

Is there a way to remove an entire topic? I have no history with HSN and would like to remove it. No big deal. Just curious.

Unfortunately there isn’t a way for me to disable those comments from appearing in the main feed, as ignoring is on a user by user basis. Ignoring only hides the message and stops direct communication. Sorry! :frowning:

To remove it from your notifications, scroll to the bottom of the thread, click the notification button (it may say “normal” or “watching” with a bell symbol,) and switch to muted.

This may work for you too @RetiredAtLast, but it would stop you from receiving notifications/updates of any kind for that thread, just FYI.

Thanks for the reply. I really didn’t think it would be an option, but I tried!

Thank you Ugly Betty. It worked, and I have stopped getting the posts from the topic I don’t read. I appreciate your help.

One more thought. . . I don’t know how many/often people watch ShopHQ these days, but I did check in to their Saturday morning Wake Up In Style program and had something I would have posted, but I didn’t know where it would go. Is there a place it would have fit with the topics we have? Or, is it not of enough interest to the users here? Thanks, as always, for your time and willingness to host this site for us. I know I really appreciate it here.

There’s an old topic at https://forum.shoppingsnark.com/t/shop-hq-free-shipping/35. Maybe @UglyBetty can update the name.

I would like to hear what you have to say. ShopHQ, when it was ShopNBC, was quite enjoyable to me back in the day.

Thanks! I kind of like their clothes and the prices were decent - especially when they had free shipping, since their s&h costs stopped me from purchasing quite often.

I checked on Wake Up In Style yesterday and there is just a weird vibe I get from the two hosts. I don’t even remember one of the host’s names, but she HAS to be the focus all the time. The other host can be presenting an item, and this one (she has dark hair and LOVES to pose), comes running in with accessories or something else, but completely takes over with demands to, “Look how cute I am in this. . .!” Or, “I could wear this (when it is NOT the item being sold). . .” I find it really annoying and I would be mad if I was the other host and it was my turn to present something. It’s just very weird to me.

I have a lot of clothes from their Indigo Threads line or Kate and Mallory, but just watching is challenging. I know they don’t have many program options, other than watches or jewelry or that plastic surgeon’s line, so I do try to watch on Saturday mornings. That annoying host would fit right in there with the QVC attention hogs.

Might have been host Erin. Forgot her last name, but it sounds like her. I got tired of her, too.

I don’t know how to find ShopHQ in our new viewing system. Does it still sell watches all the time?

I think you’re right - I think it was Erin. Thanks. I don’t think they sell as many watches as they used to. Now a lot of Dr. Dubrow beauty things and other accessories. I don’t think they have a focus. I am surprised that they are still on the air. I just checked their online guide and the next 2 hours are that Dr. Dubrow Beauty, followed by 2 hours of Joyce Giraud haircare, then jewelry. I don’t think they are live very often, either.

Erin Newburgh (sp) was a host back in the heyday. I never liked her phoniness. She left when changes were being made, apparently not liking what they were offering, tried other things unsuccessfully and came back to HQ. Now it seems as if she is on a lot, I don’t watch but get face book notices. I think Becky Wright(?) is on with her. I never fell for the free shipping as I thought they somehow figured it in to the cost of the item, but their shipping was usually double what QVC’s is. Though back in the Shop NBC days I did pay that shipping cost. They fired Kendy, a very long time host, who took Invicta watches to JTV along with a male host. I believe there is now some connection with Shop LC as the new host Heather (or is it Hannah) came from there and HQ host Chef Daniel Green went to LC in Texas to sell watches. They have ruthlessly fired tried and true hosts over the past few years. I will not buy from them anymore. Oh, and beware of Stefano D’oro’s (sp) jewelry-pure junk. I could go on and on.
