What Happened To QVC?

She had some good one liners on Housewives, but is a trainwreck in real life. Her social media is insane. With the Skinnygirl drinks, she was in the right place at the right time (and knew the right people) and accepted a very overinflated offer from Jim Beam. Also, her childhood sob story is greatly exaggerated. When she came on Housewives as the “poor” one, she was actually bankrolled by her supposedly evil father who later left her a $20m+ inheritance. She grew up lavishly in the heyday of South Florida (attended Pine Crest) and has never been poor a day in her life. Another Z-list bullshit artist, just like Jen and Kerstin… that said, Bethenny’s IQ is for sure higher than both of theirs combined.

I liked RhNY in the first few years

They still put out huge food displays of everything they’re selling. I’m willing to bet most of it goes in the trash. I bought some of the food long ago ONCE. It was awful. I think all the shopping channels are grasping. The other day I saw a male guest on HSN putting on lip gloss alongside the woman host. I laughed so hard I almost peed myself.

They claim the leftover food goes to the production staff. If it’s not appealing as a customer, I can’t imagine it being different as an employee. They also see all the bad reviews and complaints.

:blush::blush: Julia was on a few days ago, eating her weight in food, and giving instructions to someone regarding what to pack in her “Take Out” doggy bag. Bacteria be damned, we’re eating and drinking until we explode, or until all of the food is gone … whichever comes first!

That reminds me of how Shannon Smith always brought her own containers to take home food when she cooked with Wolfgang. I always thought that was tacky.

OMG it’s like they were all raised by wolves. I have no problem with someone doing that but they do not have to let the world know. Some things can be done off camera you know.

   QVC isn’t even trying. Bringing the old folks back isn’t going to solve the issue. Even Mary Beth is back as a mentor /trainer … what gives?

QVC posted their second quarter report and it looks really bad…

I did some quick research and wouldn’t be surprised if they’ve ceased operations by this time next year. People are speculating that QVC is waiting for the winter holidays to pass before making any decisions. Would that be enough though? And will they even make it to Christmas?

They mentioned digital sales in the report (TikTok) and it accounts for less than 10% of their business. Time to give up. I just looked for QVC on TikTok and there’s no longer a dedicated live feed. I’d think Sunday night would be popular for people scrolling. It seems like they’ve partnered with other sellers, because a woman with 13 viewers was shilling Home Reflections and LocknLock. THIRTEEN VIEWERS. :face_with_crossed_out_eyes:

Maybe the better question is “who gives?” Clearly not enough customers to keep the place afloat. They can keep trying to paint a positive picture (and sell it for 6 easy pays of $137.98 each) but math is math.

That financial report should have included stats on how much customer revenue they’ve lost by providing shitty products and alienating core customers with abysmal service.

This is why Temp-Tations is trying to diversify their business into local stores. I think QVC is doomed.

I’m surprised QVC doesn’t have an exclusive for Temptations. Or would Q get a cut of her sales in other places?

   There are a lot of comments online regarding the decline of her product quality. I don’t think that people are buying TempTations as they did in the past. Many of her items can be purchased through the website at better prices. I only own a set of mixing bowls that I purchased years ago and the quality was superb. Last year, I purchased a soup/ salad set in the Romance Line, and it looked as thought it was painted by a five year old. Sent it back, enough for me. Actually, I think a five year old could have done a better job.

I was just thinking that Tara’s relationship with QVC kind of insulated her from a lot of negative feedback. Especially in light of declining quality, if she puts out a lousy product on the open market (brick & mortar stores, etc.) people won’t hold back from slamming her online.

I got rid of almost all of my Temptations pieces. There was one set (pumpkin themed) that I questioned myself “what was I thinking?!” The only piece I have now is in the short-lived fallfetti pattern that I purchased 9 years ago. I very rarely use it, but I like the colors.

I also didn’t appreciate how Tara discontinued colors without warning. I thought that was shady of her.

This is why I never started buying Temptations. I liked so of the pieces, but the patterns change so often that it’s not worth starting a collection. In the last few years, the low quality has become more apparent. If they’re showing flawed pieces on TV, imagine what they look like in real life.
