What Happened To QVC?

I got rid of all my Temptations a few years ago. I had a baker crack in the oven and make a huge mess in my oven, I had the handle fall off of another piece while sitting in the cupboard, and I had several items chip very easily. I also just got rid of all my glass Lock n Lock because it chipped so easily around the rim where the glass is very thin. I found shards of glass in my food the last time I used a dish with the vented lid. These are two companies that I really liked when they were first presented, but the quality has become so bad that I just don’t trust any of it anymore.

I’ve been moving away from Locknlock glass too. Started to notice some chips in my baking dishes, which have never seen more than 375°. The lids have always been difficult to close, and I’m afraid the glass will break with too much pressure. I just bought a 9x13 Anchor Hocking glass baking dish with a latched airtight cover. Haven’t used it yet, but can already tell the cover is more sturdy than Locknlock.

:detective: :detective: :detective: The TempTations that Tara is cranking out now reminds me of the cheap, imported junk that flooded the US markets at Christmastime, showing up in every discount store, drug store, and even supermarkets. Cheap plaster Santa mugs and plates, and a full assortment of Christmas knick knacks, saturated with bright, shiny lead paint. Who knows what they’re using now? :face_with_monocle:

I have switched to Anyday glass “vessels” (tm Big Dave). I first saw them in a presentation on the Q, but I only saw them presented once. I bought mine directly from Anyday, and I think I really like them. The glass is much thicker, and there is no “lip” because the lids have a rubber edge that fits into the container. They have a nice vent and they nest nicely. They are made for microwave use. I figure that the heavier glass will not chip easily, and therefore I won’t have shards of glass in the food. I think the Q still has the smaller, and very practical, set in the warehouse. Anyday has the same or better price, I think.

I just tuned in to see Lori Goldstein selling a basic sweatshirt for $80!! What is happening to our economy??

Part of what’s happening are tariffs. Rises in materials, labor, shipping costs. And a little of it is that if everyone else is raising prices, it makes a business (like the Q) feel less likely to hold down consumer prices. It stinks.

I ordered the RMS concealer in the lightest shade. QVC sent me the darkest shade. I called them to be certain I wasn’t going to get charged for a replacement. They sent it to me a second time. Again, the darkest shade. I haven’t called them yet, but I want to make certain that I don’t end up with a $14 charge for two returns. Clearly there is a coding issue, but it shouldn’t be my job to fix that for them.

:open_mouth: :frowning_face_with_open_mouth: :open_mouth: So the big announcement regarding QVC returning to their roots of Quality, Value, & Convenience has already crashed and burned?

So they’ve gone from QVC to - - -? Nothing, Nothing, Nothing?

I haven’t watched much lately. When was this big announcement?

Pat DeMentri made the “return to quality” announcement during one of her shows this week. I don’t know if any other hosts repeated it.

Maybe the Q will stop importing from China now due to tariffs and questionable quality and source their merchandise elsewhere which will probably be even more expensive. Lots of their merchandise, especially home decor, shoes and apparel are already more expensive than a few years ago by 10-20%. I find it’s easy to talk yourself out of purchasing from them more than ever.

I can’t remember the last time I found something that cost less on QVC than elsewhere. They would do better if they offered more items no one else has.
