No question about Mallorca but I have heard other people say, e.g., “Easter-in” for Eastern. One person I can think of is from Ontario and the other is from Connecticut. They are both motor sports announcers - I know at least one of them did P.A. announcing at his family’s race track. I suspect their background has more to do with it than where they come from - but it’s pretty odd. I have never heard of anyone else pronouncing those words thusly until now.

It’s kind of like how Susan Graver says lennthin for lengthen. I’ve heard an HSN host explain a burgundy shoe color called ‘chianti’ like the wine and pronounced it like the chi- in chia pet.
Today I heard Amy Stran say adawts for adults - but we know that’s her speech and not a mispronunciation.
I challenge the hardcore Val-Pals to tally up and figure out how much cash they’ve blown on this imported junk, and how much of it they actually still use? How much went straight to the trash bin? And meanwhile, $ister Val is $miling all the way to her local church.
