I lived in Santa Paula for 5 years. I was always surprised at how warm it got compared to Ventura and Oxnard. But wow - that’s a long stretch of very warm March weather! We are (not kidding) predicted to get 12”-18” of snow Saturday afternoon - Sunday afternoon. I’d rather have really cold weather for another month than that much snow.
I love Ventura county!! I lived in Oxnard as a teenager, I love the beachy vibes. I went to Ventura college and my husband and I were married at the San Buenaventura Mission. Santa Paula is such pretty town. Every town up there has its own beauty and personality. Wow 12-18” snow! Interesting how we are getting extreme weather at the end of winter.

My son was christened at the San Buenaventura Mission. Your wedding must have been beautiful!
I will not be trying to go anywhere in the snow. And I do have a guy who plows my driveway when it snows more than 2”. So I just have to shovel the front sidewalk and the deck. If it actually snows that much, it won’t be cleared off by Monday morning. Spring snow is the worst.

Currently at 41°F, with rain, and winds gusting at 55 mph. Tomorrow, 33°F and sunny for the annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade.

Wow you have great memories of Ventura too. How lucky we are to have been able to experience life there. I’m a little bit nostalgic and sad because we recently buried my mom on St. Valentine’s Day at the Catholic Cemetary in Oxnard. Mom and dad are there. Too many happy and yet sad memories.

We complain about Q’s shipping charges. I was all set to order a pair of pants from Eddie Bauer, only to find out that the least costly shipping charge was $10.

I love a good collaboration - Starbucks has one with a cute Dutch character named Miffy. She’s super popular in Japan, that’s how I came to know her. I don’t buy Starbucks for drinks but I do like their tumblers. One for my favorite only daughter and one for me

I have watched that movie so many times, and it still scares me. And yet, I still watch every time it is on TV.

Bad Seed is disturbing to watch now, imagine how horrific it must have been to audiences in the 1950s when the movie and the play it was based on were made.

I read somewhere that in the original story Rhoda dies by lightning strike when she sneaks out and goes to the the pier looking for the medal. The movie industry decided that the death of a child would not be accepted by an audience, so the ending was changed. To me, that was an even more scary outcome.
Isn’t that the actual ending of the movie? Is my memory fading?
Yes, in the film Rhoda is hit by lightning. She goes up in smoke!
The play has a quite different ending. Christine dies but Rhoda survives, presumably continuing on with her evil ways.
However, the Motion Picture Code of the time required murderers to be punished, so Rhoda had to go.
I have the DVD with Patty McCormack’s commentary. She provides terrific background information on the play production and then the movie.
Nancy Kelly was fabulously dramatic; I absolutely love her highly theatrical performance!
