Lands End is having some great sales. I just ordered 5 items, including 2 sweaters, for $ 112. And free ship ! I could buy 2, maybe 3, items of clothing at QVC for that price. Or just one BFD item. QVC’s prices on clothing are really outrageous.

I was near a Home Goods/TJMaxx store so thought I’d stop in to look around. Could use some new holiday hand towels. (Not much left.). I even grabbed the smaller shopping cart. Of course I found LOTS of things! :joy:

After being victimized twice by porch pirates recently, I’m thinking of buying a theft proof parcel lock box from Amazon. But I’m not sure if this is a good idea. Will having the lock box attract more attention from thieves? Will thieves steal the box if I don’t make it too heavy for them to move easily?

Your thoughts, please.

I could just ask Amazon to send my stuff to one of their designated parcel locker locations. But then I’d have to drive to the locker and pick up my items, which would be hard for me if packages are heavy because I have a bad back. Also, the Amazon locker wouldn’t protect packages I receive from other merchants. What should I do?

I had a P.O. box for a few years when I was having major construction going on at my house. It was actually convenient because I could access my box 24/7, and if there were big packages, they had a box room that you got into with a code that they put in your mailbox. There were several handtrucks (trolleys) that you could use to get stuff to your car. And everything- FedEx, UPS, Amazon, USPS went to my box. I think I only paid like $250/year for it.

I thought packages could not be send to a P. O. Box.

Only certain things/companies. I think the only problem I had was with some starter plants that I had ordered, but I ended up working it out so they delivered all of it to the post office.

Packages can be delivered to a mail store if they have an actual delivery address and not a post box number. The mail delivery around here is not dependable, so I rent a box at the UPS store. The store has an actual address, so yes, I get all my important mail and packages delivered there. A lot, if not most, companies will not deliver to a PO box, but they will as long as you are using an actual address at a mail store. I don’t think I have ever been questioned by any sender.

I knew some people who were wine collectors and used a something like a UPS store with a street address to ship their expensive items to. That way they could pick up when convenient and no boxes sitting on their porch. They’ve done it this way for years and I’m not aware of any problems they had.

we just started watching Drops of God on Apple TV. its very good
anyone else watching,

Every year I think this and this year is not any different: I don’t see any point in changing the time from standard to daylight saving. Pick one or the other and just stick with it. It is going to be dark until sunrise and after sunset anyway. Where I live, it is dark until about 7:30 AM and then dark again around 4:30 PM all winter. With the time change, it’s dark until 7:30 AM and light until 6:00 PM. Kids aren’t playing outdoor sports at this time of year. If we left the time alone, it would be light at 6:30-7:00 PM here by late April anyway.

Studies have show detrimental health and safety effects from the time change. More heart attacks and strokes, more car and industrial accidents, more mental health issues. And as a former teacher, I saw impacts on students with sleep loss right at the time of the standardized testing season.

Every year there’s a debate about this. I wish that politicians would listen to polls that say only 10% of Americans are in favor of the time changes twice a year.

I like the longer days in the summer

Then leave it on DST. Just quit changing the time twice a year!

I’m all for year round Daylight Saving Time, but do not want Standard Time all year.

Standard time has more daylight in the afternoon. Daylight Savings Time gives more daylight in the early morning. A lot of people get these confused. In October we add an hour (clocks turned back) so more daylight in the afternoon. In March we lose an hour, so shorter afternoon daylight. If you like more daylight in the afternoon you want Standard Time.

With Standard time it gets dark earlier. The advantage of DST is it stays light later…what happens with the daylight in the middle of the afternoon doesn’t bother me.

@JustPlainNutz Not so fast, I live in Maryland, today’s high was 84 degrees but I heard the word snow for next week. It’s entirely possible. :money_mouth_face:

:snowflake: :snowflake: :snowflake: @EEFIt’s indeed in our forecast, too, beginning on Friday, and continuing throughout next week. We had a high of 71° today, but I should know better than to let my guard down. Just when I think it’s finally over, we have one last blast. Spring cannot come soon enough! :tulip:

It snowed +/- 2” last night. And more chances of snow coming in the next few days. The gardener in me welcomes the precipitation, but everything else is tired of it.
