How funny, I just had some chips and salsa!
What better way to start off this freezing cold -8°F morning of FRIDAY JANUARY 30th than with a freshly baked, buttery warm croissant and your favorite beverage on NATIONAL CROISSANT DAY?
This little number has become my new best friend this winter. One of those things you didn’t know you needed … It’s thick & plush, the softest faux fur ever … Not your ordinary heated throw!
What better way to begin this chilly, chilly morning of JANUARY 31st … Might I suggest a generous mug of your favorite hot chocolate on NATIONAL HOT CHOCOLATE DAY?
I’m celebrating the day because after days of zero and subzero temps we were finally able to get out from underneath the ice and snow and do a real Saturday Fun Run … groceries, including TWO rotisserie chickens and SIX donuts, gas, prescriptions, and cat supplies. Now that everyone’s fed and happy, we’re lounging around In our comfortable & warm clothes under our Martha Stewart heated blankets and trying to stay awake. And yes, the cats have joined us!
Our local Giant Eagle Grocery Stores are helping out by doing free grocery deliveries thru February 1st … Kudos to them for being great community neighbors! Everyone, please stay safe and warm, and don’t take any unnecessary risks. There’s still more of this weather yet to come. ![]()
Today my daughter and I went out for a frivolous trip to Michaels to buy yarn and some embroidery/sewing supplies. For the last few weeks it’s only been a drive to work, to the grocery store, and to the gas station - nowhere else! I’m lucky to have a friend who has been picking me up to volunteer with the food collection and distribution. We’re supposed to get a little snow tonight and Sunday morning, but at least it won’t be too cold to shovel it.
The sun is shining, and the temperature has climbed to 23°F on this wintery day of MONDAY FEBRUARY 2nd … if that’s not reason enough to celebrate TATER TOT DAY, I don’t know what is!
I was craving hash browns this morning but resisted the urge! Well, guess this is a sign…
I just love the loaded variety you posted. Any kind of fried potato with cheddar, ranch, bacon, spring onions, and a drizzle of hot sauce. ![]()
Back in the day, Disney World had a dish called Figaro Fries. Same thing, minus the hot sauce. I always looked forward to that when we went. This was long before Disney started selling alcohol, otherwise I’d have had a glass (or bottle) of wine to cope! ![]()
Kroger has Kinder’s brand BBQ and dipping sauce on sale… I’m ashamed to admit I’ve bought nearly all of them! They’re usually $7, so figured this was a good opportunity. I’m VERY impressed with their sauces, something for everyone. I made some air fried tenders (not breaded, dry rubbed and marinated for 2 days) and brushed the black cherry chipotle BBQ on it. Delicious. Also love their buttery herb and garlic jalapeno seasonings. I was rummaging around for a midnight snack and found some frozen nuggets… the buttery buffalo sauce, OMG!
The Louisiana Hot is similar to Nando’s garlic peri peri sauce.
Your post brought back a sweet memory of my beloved Mom, who only used Contadina tomato puree in her pasta sauce. Whenever Wegman’s would have a sale, 49¢ per can, we would leave the store with 24 - 36 cans, and she would drag out the sixteen quart sauce pot and cook and can her homemade sauce with our full encouragement and approval. When she passed away, the priest who gave her eulogy told the attendees that whenever he visited my Mom, he always knew there would be a plate of homemade spaghetti involved.
That’s a beautiful memory! ![]()
Dunkin has those heart shaped donuts with the yummy choc filling out now
Greetings, my lovelies, on this bright & sunny 28° day of TUESDAY FEBRUARY 3rd … It’s a great day do do something fun for yourself (or your kitty) … buy a little treat, call a friend, watch your favorite TV program, or have a great meal … but do remember to include a hearty serving or two of vegetables on NATIONAL CARROT CAKE DAY!
Brrrr … Another cold and chilly winter day, but not to worry, you can easily warm up on WEDNESDAY FEBRUARY 4th because it’s NATIONAL HOMEMADE SOUP DAY!
… And, just a little FYI Fun Fact … In 2010, Jeanne Bice designated February 4th as none other than …
I love these! Luckily I waited til after breakfast to check today, but that soup looks delicious!
It’s cold … again. Might I suggest some well deserved chocolate-hazelnut therapy on this frigid THURSDAY FEBRUARY 5th, which just coincidentally happens to be WORLD NUTELLA DAY!
On this slightly warmer 23°F day of FRIDAY FEBRUARY 6th, let’s all remember that today is designated as NATIONAL WEAR RED DAY, and remind each other to take good care of ourselves as The American Heart Association promotes Women’s Heart Health Month.
And I’m also giving everyone permission to treat yourself on what we are also celebrating today … NATIONAL FROZEN YOGURT DAY!
On yet another cold winter’s 7°F day, how about something warm and hearty to soothe your hungry soul on SATURDAY FEBRUARY 7th … NATIONAL PATTY MELT DAY … don’t forget the pickles & fries!
I’m originally from MA. That reminds me of getting a Big Beef at Friendly’s. ![]()
