I just discovered an awesome brand of low carb bagels at Walmart, Hero Brand. Only 4 net carbs, high in protein and fiber and low in calories….and they are delicious, with the texture of an authentic bagel.
I love this thread idea! ![]()
I’m celebrating today because our two female cats are FINALLY becoming friends again since losing our boy in October. ![]()
FRIDAY - JANUARY 16th … Who would have thought we’d spend an entire day celebrating Fig Newton?
I’m betting that Fig is even more famous than Isaac …
As @UglyBetty said, I too love this thread idea! It’s really in your wheelhouse, @JustPlainNutz! I just make sure not to look if I’m hungry LOL
On that happy note, I will take a moment for a Public Service Announcement to gently remind everyone that tomorrow is the final day of National Pizza Week. I trust that you’ve all participated accordingly, but if you haven’t, there’s still time. If you have consciously chosen not to participate, I’m sorry for your loss.
In this household, it’s National Pizza Week every week! ![]()
Walmart sells frozen onions and peppers, mushrooms, and broccoli. I grabbed a handful of each, thawed it in a pan with 1/2 tbsp of butter, a dash of worchestire (spellcheck doesn’t even have a suggestion LOL!) some Mrs. Dash Table Blend, Kinders Jalapeno seasoning for a salty kick. Saute until the water cooks out. Beat 2 eggs and poured them in, added some reduced fat fiesta blend cheese, covered it, and turned off the heat for about 10 minutes. Eggs steamed nice and fluffy, veggies are tender. Delicious with some ketchup! Yes, I put ketchup on eggs!

I’ve been buying the Costco pepperoni. Yum. I may try the Motor City double pepperoni as I’ve heard good things about it. But I’m a Chicago person and that’s Detroit style so not sure yet.
I’ve never been to Detroit or Chicago, yet strangely enough, the words “Motor City” ring a bell …
No time to cook? … Little Caesars makes a pretty decent deep dish pizza!
Even Digiorno has hopped on the pizza wagon, and I will tell you, it’s actually pretty good.
The pizza possibilities are endless … !
Sounds good ! What size pan are you talking about ? No problem with ketchup on eggs, although I’ve been preferring a bit of hot sauce lately.
I’m curious enough now to pick up a package next time I’m at CostCo. I have had Detroit style once or twice and I liked it. It’s just not my first choice. It looks delicious!
Maybe an 8” pan but would work with any smaller nonstick pans.

When the spirit moves you, try the Little Caesar’s lunch combo … Four slices of deep dish pepperoni with your choice of a 20 ounce beverage for around $6.00. Enough for one hearty appetite, or for two to share.
Now that SATURDAY JANUARY 17th is winding down, might I suggest that you change into something soft, warm, and comfortable, and indulge in your favorite hot beverage …
Just a suggestion …
And what’s for dinner, you ask, on this cold & snowy SUNDAY JANUARY 18th? …
NATIONAL PEKING DUCK DAY
My son has already announced that he wants to go to his favorite Chinese restaurant and have Peking duck for his birthday. I went with him recently and it is a fantastic place. Small place in a Chicago neighborhood, truly family run. Dad, Mom, daughter, and son or son-in-law all working. Dad comes out and checks with every diner to make sure the food and all is OK.
I LOVE Hero bread buns and use them all the time. The bagels are OK, but I just haven’t found the perfect one yet. I also have a box of rice and pasta to try. I ordered some from Kaizen and also Hero. Once that has been resolved, all that is left is to find a sub for potatoes! I like the cereal from Magic Spoon, but not the price. I have not seen them at my Walmart yet - I will look. Walmart is the only place that carries Sola bread, which I really enjoy. The loaves are small, but only 1 net carb per slice. I like the oat bread and also the sweet and buttery types. I don’t understand how they stay soft and the sell by dates are at least a month out, but I am not going to question it!
Thanks for the tips on more low carb foods…I’ll be checking them out. It’s so nice to have choices to help stay on a low carb food plan.
