WELCOME! :) Let the snarking begin!

Those ads were AWFUL. I could barely read posts because I would accidentally click on them (I mostly read via tablet), and they would cause spontaneous page refreshes that would take forever to load because of all the ad clutter and that almost never took me back to where I left off. There was plenty to dislike about that place even beyond the schoolmarmish moderation. This site is a gazillion times better!! Thank you again, @UglyBetty!!

What I love MOST about this forum (thank you, too, @UglyBetty!) are all of the familiar names!! :sparkling_heart:

I still go to PT for some other shows I watch. For those of you who hate all the slow ads, I switched PT over to the Duck Duck Go browser and much better!

Since the Shopping Channels shutdown, I’ve only gone back to PT to check for private messages. But BTS (Before The Shutdown), I had also switched to Duck Duck Go and it was great - no ads.

I just saw an update on the Reddit Primetimer thread that says the Duggar PT forum has been notified that they have been moved from red light to yellow light. I guess that means they’ve been behaving themselves or else PT is worried about losing more traffic.

Did the Shopping Channels forum ever get any of those red/yellow/green light warnings? I didn’t see it, if we did. The forum just disappeared one day.

I read that forum every day and never saw any warnings.

Me too. Apparently, there was a red line at the top, but even now when I look at forums that are supposedly “on warning,” I don’t see anything that screams they are about to get canceled.

Many thankyous for starting up this new forum. I “lurked” over at other site and thoroughly enjoyed all the hilarious posts. What an oasis for me in a difficult time of life. The writing on the site was oscar worthy - so many talented snarkers. I did try to post, but was so unsuccessful at getting in.

I never noticed any warnings either before we were shut down. Over on the Reddit site, one of the mods said that the Counting On forum (about the Duggars), which was in danger of being cancelled, has been moved from red warning to yellow. So I guess posters are now “behaving”? The whole thing is just so stupid.

it is stupid, they have an inflated view of their position vis a vis a forum on reality teevee

I saw a line across the screen at the top of the forum’s homepage in those last couple of days, but I didn’t realize what it meant. When they said they were going to do red, yellow, green lights or flags, I thought we’d see them inside the threads. I usually didn’t go to the forum’s landing page. I navigated threads by clicking on the link in my notifications as they were updated, so it’s no wonder I missed their “warning.”

I don’t think we could have said or done anything to turn the status back to yellow like they’ve been able to do in the Counting On forum. PT was determined to close Shopping Channels, and I think QVC or some of the hosts were behind it. (If Kachina is here, NO I can’t prove it, so you’ll just have to get over it.)

I’ve been a long, long, long time addicted shopping channel lurker and was crushed when the PT site disappeared. It had become a daily uplifting fix for me. The snark from all of you are intelligently written, always on-point, entertaining and hilarious. Thanks Ugly Betty for bringing back the fun of the shopping channel snark-fest. BTW, I found you from a Reddit post. :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Wow, I didn’t know that other site used a green/yellow/red light system. How juvenile!

This site will never use anything like that. People are behaving themselves, and I’m very thankful. We have a funny, quick-witted group who understands limits. Think twice, post once.

I won’t say which, but there was a post the other day that made me really laugh. Like coffee coming out of my nose laughing. :joy: Something the other site would have definitely deleted and issued warnings for, and then publicly lectured (or banned) the group over.

Even if I could go back to PT (I burned my bridges there) I wouldn’t. I am an educated professional woman over the age of 50 who does not like being scolded by PC 20 year olds.

My memories of Catholic school come flooding back each time I’d get a “friendly reminder letter” from Princess that I choose not to do it. And would you believe I got a flag warning for posting the sentence “I’ll probably get dinged by the mods but …”. Princess-with-a-stick-up-her-butt gave me a warning that my sentence gives a negative tone towards the moderators and I am to stop immediately with that thought.

Yeah. I’m itching to post on a site that has Hitler youth moderating.

No thanks.

P.S. Thank you UglyBetty for allowing me and others to express ourselves without fear of stormtroopers bursting through the door.:heart::heart:
