QVC Live Discussion (Part 1)

:see_no_evil_monkey: :hear_no_evil_monkey: :speak_no_evil_monkey: …So THIS is what’s been missing/not missing from my life?

I just came here to comment on Theresa Caputol!!! I’m not listening to it, so forgive me if I am misinterpreting. So she’s an ā€œ ambassadorā€ because she’s got stuff to sell??? In this case, a St Michael and Mary necklace. This kind of selling religious stuff on QVC bugs me so much. Tacky.

Please don’t judge, but I’m somewhat into psychics and astrology and believe that SOME people really do have gifts. A vast majority are scam artists, and she’s one of them in my opinion. I heard her on a radio show back when she was on TV. She kept giving BS reasons why she can’t do readings on air. The hosts asked general questions about their lives, and she was totally wrong each time. Eventually she just shut up and kept pushing tickets to her live show. I think it was Howard Stern or maybe Andy Cohen? This was at least 7 years ago, I bet her lawyers scrubbed it from YouTube.

Regarding the religious products… notice how it’s just ONE religion? Nice how they have white and black Santa now (or ā€œblackface Santaā€ as David said) but what about other religions? Trying to avoid politics, but I think we know why… their average viewer would never stand for a Jewish holiday even being mentioned. Hindus and Muslims? Forget about it.

Oh no - they throw Chanukah in there whenever they can suggest buying presents. And Shawn will never miss an opportunity to try to shame a Jewish guest/host by asking asinine questions. And, don’t forget when Jayne Brown suggested we purchase lobster (or ham) for our Passover meal. I forgot which one, but it was inappropriate and very cringey. They did used to have some really nice items from Israel but they don’t do that anymore, and I am grateful. The hosts who aren’t Jewish and have no understanding of the culture or holiday really embarrass themselves and QVC.

After I wrote the last post, I did recall them mentioning Chanukah but like you said, only in the context of buying presents. Lobster and ham for Passover… I have no words…

I remember years ago they used to have Hanukkah shows. I don’t remember any after they had Kathy Levine and another Jewish host whose name I don’t remember (she left after her baby was born, I think) on set trying to explain the customs and reasons for Hanukkah. Neither seemed to know too much. It was a good effort on the part of QVC in the early years, but it was not a good showing. I don’t think the Q ever did that again.

HSN had a show called Jewelry from Israel (or something like that). It was good, with a very knowledgeable guest who would explain the meaning of each item. I bought a pair of Hamsa earrings from her. (I think that is the name!)
