Over on the QVC forums, I once posted the question “Do people really have gift closets where they stock up on gifts for everyone from mail carriers to teachers?” I was surprised: almost everyone said yes - even in this economy.
But some people said they shopped for Christmas gifts for family throughout the year and tucked them away. Others claimed they had a gift drawer where they kept small generic gifts for those times when they get unexpected presents and want to reciprocate, or when they need a last minute gift, for example if they forget someone’s birthday.
Nobody said they give gifts to everyone they have contact with. Most reported that they gift only family, close friends, and a few people they do regular business with, such as their hair stylist, dog sitter, or physical therapist.
Bottom line, most of us give a lot fewer presents than the Q would like us to buy.

Appreciate that! Back when my kids were small and my family did gifts galore I would buy items throughout the year for Christmas, however, never had a designated gift closet for said items. They were shoved in the back of my clothes closet. I just find it flippant and ignorant that the hosts just toss that out there. I’m sure there are people who gift everyone as they clearly have the means to-but to attempt to have Jane public on a fixed income feel not good enough and coorce her into buying frivolously is not good. Yes it’s their job… but there’s also morals

I am one of those who admitted to having a “gift drawer.” Closet space is too valuable in NYC to give up.
Just some miscellaneous odds and ends like candles.
And shelf-stable fudge for myself, mostly.

If by “gift closet,” you mean a bench where I throw freebies and new in packaging crap that I don’t want, then yes, I have a “gift closet.”

I’m so glad you like it. I’m totally getting a set but now I’m obsessing on what color or print. Do I want a solid, floral or tweed? Too many choices!

I started with the metallic floral so that’s what I buy for myself. I got my kid a blue-gray and my husband’s closet is a black and white zigzag.

I like how everyone in your house has their own signature color, especially the metallic floral Courtney said that’s what she has . I went with the white with dots. It’s kind of generic yet feminine.

I do think she is watchable and much better on her own, hosting. I agree with you, RNbynite, regarding her look for the make up and skin care portion of her shows. It’s totally not believable and I can’t watch .

My favorite pattern.….is it called Parisian dot?..…it looks Parisian and very feminine. The print reminds me of a retro hat box, the style that Midge Maisel might own. Classy.

Well GeeGee, I can’t say I am any more organized, sadly! lol But I do own two sets and it helps with winter scarfs and gloves, back packs, those kind of things. I move them around a lot and the wire on the sides can dislodge a little; but they seem generally well made.
