Welp, know those high prices QVC charges for mined and lab grown diamonds? We might as well save ourselves some cash and buy Diamonique instead. I heard some shocking news from a jeweler this week.
With gold prices at their peak I decided to sell a few gold jewelry pieces I seldom wear these days. I also had a pair of mined diamond rings I no longer wanted, so I took them to the jeweler. Guess what? He didn’t want the diamonds. He told me that the bottom has fallen out of the mined diamond market because the quality of lab grown gems and simulants like Diamonique is so good now that “real” diamonds aren’t worth much. And silver, even though its per ounce price is much higher now and climbing, also isn’t selling, even designer items from Tiffany and the like.
But the gold market is stronger than ever. I didn’t sell off much gold, but I got nearly four times the amount I expected.

On QVC2, they’re selling a 17” laptop with only 4GB RAM and 128GB storage. $400. 
I can’t recall seeing any laptops with so little RAM and storage in the last 5+ years. Clearing out old stock?

My sons have gaming laptops so I’m not sure what “normal” specs are these days. But you’re right - in technology terms, that sounds positively ancient.
By comparison my work laptop has 32GB of RAM and 2TB storage.

The iPad on Q1 is the base model. $349 at Apple, $519 from QVC. How much does the average QVC buyer think these “extras” are worth? You can buy a case and screen protector for under $20 on Amazon. The keyboard they’re bundling isn’t the official keyboard from Apple, it looks like a shitty $20 keyboard from (surprise surprise) Amazon…

So true. Every time they have an Apple product, they bundle it with accessories and jack up the price. You’re much better off buying directly from Apple and getting the accessories you want cheaper elsewhere.

If you’re buying an iPad stand, check out this one for half the price! I have 3 of them and bring my iPad around the house to watch TV. The metal is sturdy. These plastic stands on QVC look flimsy and easily scratched.

I think my iPhone stand is the same brand (I have had it for several years). It is very sturdy, and I use it every day. I am always amazed at how many computers and iPads the Q actually sells at their inflated prices. I also wonder how many grandchildren and great-grandchildren receive gifts of computers or iPads that are out dated or do not have enough functional memory.
