I’m almost 100% sure Blabby pays the NYC rent, or at the very least, she’s a co-tenant on the lease. Blabby let it slip that she got an email from management about the water being shut off in her daughter’s NYC apartment, and this is typical for people who are on the lease. It makes sense though because in NYC (and surrounding areas), you have to make 40x more than the rent to lease an apartment. This is why working class people have to live with family, friends, significant other, random roommates, or low-income housing (which is become non-existant these days). In this case, blabbina got Mommy Jane to co-sign because we know that whatever she’s doing professionally, it doesn’t equate to 120K+ a year. With that being said, Blabby Jane and Mute Daddy must be doing really well because if you need a co-signer on a lease because you don’t meet the income requirement, your co-signer(s) have to make 80x the rent! (YMMV, but that’s the common amounts).

FWIW having a cosign on a young persons lease is common or least it was when my daughter leased in the city post college,
I don’t think it necessarily means the apron strings are that long

This is true. Another hinderence for a young person could be lack of credit history.

I could just imagine Jane in the management office pulling the “dont you know who I am?” schtick…but in Blabby fashion. She’d babble on and on about Lexie Marigolds, her Court, tapping apps, shopping backwards, her hun-nay David, her fave model An-gel-laaaaaaaaaa, and the property manager just looking at her like, “what the f-…”
