Double date night with Davinder ‘s colleague and new husband. Dressing to impress.

OMG a lot of photo shopping going on in that photo. She gave herself a new body

The clunky shoes look awful with that dress.

You’re so right… she always wears the ugliest, clunkiest shoes. It’s always the exact same pose in the mirror selfies, too.

Why did she photoshop her ass into a point? Weird.

We see you, Jen. We thought you were a gold digger but really, you’re just a cat.

She always wears clunky shoes, they just make her tree trunks look short and stumpy.

That camera person is doing a great job zooming in on her Hermes bracelet this evening. A few times it went back and forth between JCon’s Hermes and Graver’s Van Clef & Arpels Alhambra. Wonder if that was pre-planned or if the camera person even realizes it’s happening.

I know that ridiculous. Why does she do Susan Graver when she never wears Susan Graver or Isaac clothes. Furthermore why does she do jewelry when hers is all designer. I don’t get it.

Does anyone know what bracelet Jen is wearing with her Rolex watch ? I’m sure it’s expensive

Oh dear Jenny from the block, you underestimate how annoying YOU are.

do we think Q should make them not wear the designer stuff while selling?

In a way, I think the designer jewelry is their way of saying that their Q stuff seamlessly mixes with it—as if to elevate Q inventory. Sometimes I think Graver’s jewelry is a turn off (especially when she wears it at home with her pool in the background) because it makes me feel like she’s flaunting her wealth. I’m not a fan of JCon’s Hermes bracelet. It reminds me of scenes in the Gucci and Versace movies where they talked about watering down their lines for the masses. For the money, I’d be happier with just a plain gold bracelet. I also get the impression JCon’s just wearing it to flaunt it, so I guess that’s why it’s a turn off for me.

I’ve seen some of the newer hosts present jewelry without even trying it on. That bugs me when they don’t have a model on set because I’d like to see what it looks like when it’s worn. I like how hosts are starting to wear Q clothes and mention what they’re wearing (like during a kitchen show).

I guess I’m on the fence when it comes to answering your question. I’m curious you what you and the others think.

I’ve been mulling over whether the host should wear QVC brands and I don’t think I am alone in noting a trend where the hosts are often portrayed as relatable and trusted friends. When a host doesn’t wear the merchandise they’re selling to me, this feels like a missed opportunity to enhance the authenticity and connection QVC desperately strives to create with viewers.

QVC is driving the idea that part of their programs’ appeal lies in showcasing their latest products and the hosts’ personalities. They’ve cultivated a sense of appointment television, where viewers supposedly tune in to see what’s being offered and engage with the hosts. In essence, the hosts represent a cross-section of America, and as such, it would make sense for them to wear at least some of the items they’re promoting, particularly the Today’s Special Value (TSV) offerings.

For example, in the recent makeup TSV, it struck me as surprising that the shades available seemed to reflect the diversity of the QVC audience. For the first time in however long I’ve been casually tuning in, they had a shade that could actually work for Janye Brown. If their goal is to create a sense of inclusivity and relatability, the merchandise, including makeup shades, should be more representative of the viewership.

I believe that when hosts wear the products they’re selling, it helps QVC reinforce the idea (albeit superficially) that the hosts genuinely believe in what they’re offering and that they’re just like us—real people who use and enjoy the items they present. I know that those of us here will see right through it because, yeah, the hosts are basically doing it for work, but seeing a body other than Amy’s or Courtney’s in a TSV dress, for example, adds a layer of credibility and authenticity to the shopping experience because, just like the QVC hosts, we all are different.

And that should also be the test of whether a product can truly be a TSV- if both Jane and Leah look good in the same outfit, then it will probably work by default for someone like the new petite host Melissa.

In other words, if it’s supposed to be good enough for me, it should be good enough for Jennifer too! No host should behave as if they are better than us, the viewers.

@ChitChat7085 That’s a great post. You made many good points.

But I have to say that “authenticity” is not a quality I associate with QVC. The hosts are salespeople, and their job is to move the merchandise, whether they are telling the truth about the products or not. I get especially irritated when hosts like Shawn and Blabby Jane tell us they ordered multiples of the products they’re presenting. No way do I believe Shawn ordered a top in four colors, or Jane ordered a shoe in every color.
